It is way too hot this week for my JapMaps.  How much water is too much?  I am watering, watering, watering.  The poor leaves are rather suffering.  The weather has been upper 90 Has anyone solved this problem.  I have a Chitose yama and a Red Blood and something unlabeled.

Too much much water is just as bad as too little water, I use a moister meter to keep me from drowning my trees. Plants can adapt to a new environment but sometimes they don't adapt. If you bought Acer 489 from NY and you bought an Acer 489 from next door which one would do better or adapt better to your yard. I keep all trees from a different part of the country in a good amount of shade for a year or more before I move them to a permanent location. The question is how much direct sun does the tree get at any given time of day and where was that tree last year?

I have found aluminum shade cloth is the way to go if you don't have natural shade.
